1.    Service Area

The Service Area for the Greater Waterbury Paratransit includes Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Prospect, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown and Wolcott.  With the cooperation with the Greater New Haven Transit District (GNHTD) the Greater Waterbury Paratransit can go to Hamden and to New Haven as ADA trips.

There are two types of trips in the Service Area. These are:

a.                  ADA Trips-trips are regulated under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (see ADA 49 CFR Section 37.131).  Pick-up and drop-off points are ¾ of a mile from the fixed route bus system.  Trips cannot be denied.  All trips inside Waterbury are ADA.

a.                  Non-ADA Trip-trips not covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  Pick-up and/or drop-off points are greater than ¾ of a mile from the fixed route bus system.  Trips can be denied because of lack of space.  Any trip from or to Middlebury, Prospect and Thomaston are Non-ADA because there are no fixed route buses in these areas.

Click on NET and look up the bus map to determine if your trip is ADA or Non-ADA for  trips with points in Cheshire, Naugatuck, Watertown and Wolcott.
